Lock Out CancerThere’s a future at stake.Lock Out Cancer is an event that gives students and teachers the chance to have the hallways and classrooms of their schools say a loud “no” to cancer. It’s simple. Participants ask family and friends to give a toonie as a
tribute to someone fighting cancer, in memory of a loved one lost to
cancer, or in celebration of a cancer survivor. Each toonie buys a
paper Tribute Locker to put up in hallways or classrooms.
Together, the Tribute Lockers make a bold statement:
“We believe a cancer-free future is possible and we’re going to be a part of getting there.”
More people survive cancer today thanks to research. But one in four children will develop cancer in their lifetime and it is still the leading cause of death for their parents’ generation.
The Lock Out Cancer campaign gives students and staff a chance to do something about it.
Every dollar raised goes to cancer research, prevention, and patient care at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary and 15 community and associate cancer centres across the province.
