IN THE WILL SPECIFIC BEQUESTS To pay the sum of _________ Dollars to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, for its own use absolutely. — OR — To pay the sum of ________ Dollars to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, to be used for ______________ (specific purpose) provided however, that if circumstances make the specified use of this bequest impractical or undesirable, the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Cancer Foundation is authorized to apply this bequest to other purposes, such purposes, however to conform as much as possible to the spirit and intent of this bequest. — OR — To pay the sum equivalent to ____________ percent of the fair market value of all Registered Retirement Income Funds and/or Registered Retirement Savings Funds owned by me at the time of my death to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, to be administered as ______________________ (name of endowment) in accordance with the terms and conditions which the Alberta Cancer Foundation and I have agreed upon during my lifetime. RESIDUAL BEQUESTS To pay and transfer the residue of my estate to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, to be used for its own use absolutely. — OR — To pay and transfer the rest and residue of my estate to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, to be used for _______________________________ (specific purpose) provided however, that if circumstances make the specified use of this bequest impractical or undesirable, the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Cancer Foundation is authorized to apply this bequest to other purposes, such purposes, however to conform as much as possible to the spirit and intent of this bequest. BEQUEST FOR RESEARCH To pay the sum of ______________________ Dollars to the Alberta Cancer Foundation to be used for research in the ___________________________(field or area) or related fields, provided that if it is impractical in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Cancer Foundation to apply the said sum to research in _________________ (field or area) or related fields, then to use the said amount for research in such field as the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Cancer Foundation in its absolute discretion deems advisable. B."POWER TO VARY PURPOSES" The following clause allows the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Cancer Foundation to vary the purposes for which the gift is to be used when it is impossible or impractical to carry out the original purposes. It is recommended that this clause be included wherever possible. “If in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Cancer Foundation (hereinafter in this clause referred to as the “Board”) it should become impossible, inadvisable, or impractical to apply the said fund (principal or income) for the said purposes, or if the Board is of the opinion that part of the said fund (principal or income) is not required for said purposes, the Board shall use the said fund (principal or income), or such part thereof, in such a manner, as in its discretion may deem to be to the best advantage of the Alberta Cancer Foundation for other purposes consistent with the spirit and intent of this bequest.”
