Alberta Cancer Foundation to Partner in New Calgary Cancer Centre

The Government of Alberta announced plans today to build a new cancer centre in Calgary. This $1.2 billion dollar project will be built in partnership with the Alberta Cancer Foundation – Alberta’s largest cancer charity. The Alberta Cancer Foundation has committed to raise $200 million to support the new facility.

Alberta Cancer Foundation and Sanofi Canada partner to improve outcomes for colorectal cancer patients

Colorectal cancer patients must receive adequate follow-up care after their treatment is over to ensure any cancer recurrence is detected early, but many of those patients are currently not adhering to the recommended guidelines, say researchers.  A new research project funded by the Alberta Cancer Foundation and Sanofi Canada aims to improve the chances of early diagnosis if the cancer returns and save lives across the province.

They are a “dream team” comprised of some of the country’s top minds in cancer research. They are harnessing their talent and technologies to find new treatments for the most common and deadly form of brain cancer among adults with an $8.2 million investment from The Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI), The Terry Fox Foundation (TFF), Alberta Innovates–Health Solutions, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Genome Canada, Genome BC and the BC Cancer Foundation.

TELUS’ Go Pink campaign has raised more than $500,000 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation, with funds being used towards the purchase of digital mammography equipment. The Go Pink campaign raised a total of more than $2.45 million for women’s breast health across Canada.
