STRENGTH IN NUMBERS

Since the first Ride to Conquer Cancer in Alberta in 2009, over $31 million has been raised by more than 7,500 participants on the epic two-day ride for 200 km along the base of the majestic Rocky Mountains. This has allowed for a net investment of close to $20 million for research at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. This research pushes the boundaries of medical knowledge and improves prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment here in Alberta while contributing to the global cancer research effort.

INVESTING IN PROGRESS

Events like the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer account for roughly one third of the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s annual revenue. They have been the single largest success factor in ensuring Alberta builds one of Canada’s strongest cancer research programs and is able to attract and retain top research and clinical talent to the province. In 2010, we were pleased to welcome Enbridge as the title sponsor for the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer. The participation of Enbridge employees and Enbridge sponsorship support has ensured an even greater net benefit.

Research breakthroughs in the past decade make it possible that a cancer-free future can be achieved within our lifetime. At the Alberta Cancer Foundation, we believe that future is inevitable and when we get there depends on the focus and energy we put to it today. The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer is a bold event designed to take us the rest of the way to a future without cancer.
