Multiple Miles for Myeloma
On Saturday, July 31, 2010, the Southern Alberta Myeloma Patient Society will be holding the Second Annual Multiple Miles for Myeloma 5km walk, 5km run, and 8km run at North Glenmore Park in Calgary, Alberta. This event is a fundraiser and funds generated will stay within Alberta to support important research on multiple myeloma.
Multiple myeloma is an incurable, but treatable, cancer of the plasma cell, a type of white blood cell. Many Calgarians and Albertans have been affected by this disease, including those who have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma as well as those who have had family members or friends who have been diagnosed. The walk/run events begin at 9:00am sharp. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each event as well as to the top three pledge earners. The top three pledge earners will be eligible to select their preference of a prize. Included amongst the prizes are a hockey stick signed by the 2010 Canadian Olympic Men's Hockey Team and a hockey stick signed by the 2010 Canadian Olympic Women's Hockey Team. Registration fee includes a long-sleeved technical t-shirt, post-race goodies and eligibility for draw prizes.
