Gordon Downey passed away on October 17, 2017 after a courageous battle with Brain Cancer.
On May 10, 2025 Thirsty Rooster Eatery & Bar is proud to team up with Big Rock Brewery and Ahead By A Century- A Tribute To The Tragically Hip for an epic night in honor of Canada’s Iconic B The Tragically Hip!
We will be pouring the Tragically Hip Lake Fever Lager, Tragically Hip Cider, 50 Mission Gap Cabernet and more in honor of Gord with part of the proceeds going to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
Ahead By A Century is an amazing tribute to the Tragically Hip, a group of seasoned musicians with decades of experience in a variety of genres from classic rock to blues to metal to country to progressive to jazz and lots in between. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, they come together to authentically pay homage to the iconic Canadian band – The Tragically Hip.
They replicate the Hip’s sound with precision, paying attention to the tone, timing, and arrangements.
Ahead By A Century blends musical accuracy, the iconic look, stage energy, with a deep respect for the band’s legacy while making sure the audience feels they are part of the experience, not just spectators.
