The Alberta Cancer Foundation recently announced its support for critical infrastructure in the province with the injection of $5.55 million. This is a part of the foundation’s $15 million in annual research investments, dedicated to the vision of a cancer-free Alberta.
“We hear from our donors that they want their dollars to achieve real progress – earlier detection of cancer, better treatments, better survival rates and better quality of life,” says Myka Osinchuk, CEO of the Alberta Cancer Foundation. “This recent investment, along with our new direction, will take us to that cancer-free future.”
Building on the excellent research already taking place in Alberta, the foundation’s recent investment will support Alberta’s Tomorrow Project, Pre-phase One Clinical Trials, Applied Precision Medicine, Alberta Cancer Research Biorepository, Health Outcomes Access to Clinical Data and Integration of Research, Cell Imaging Facility Cross Cancer Institute, Cancer Epigenetics Program in Ovarian Cancer, and Canada Research Chair Tier 2 in Brain Tumour Research.
“As Alberta’s largest non-government funder of cancer research, we are making investments on behalf of our donors that will lead to better outcomes for Albertans facing cancer,” Osinchuk says.
