Patient Experience
Helping Patients Live Well During, and Beyond, Cancer
At the Alberta Cancer Foundation, we are Albertans helping Albertans—Albertans from every community, facing every cancer type, and from every walk of life. As the fundraising partner for every cancer centre in Alberta, we support world-class research and programs that aim to improve the cancer journey for patients facing cancer and their families. Thanks to our donors, the Alberta Cancer Foundation funds programs that focus on patients’ unique needs and reducing disparities in cancer treatment and care in underserved populations across Alberta. Programs like the Provincial Patient Navigation Program, the Patient Financial Assistance Program, and Mobile Breast Screening Enhancement Project, which help Albertans who, due to geographical, cultural, financial or other barriers, may have trouble accessing appropriate cancer diagnoses, treatments and care. These programs improve the overall patient experience and provide guidance and support to those who need it most.Help us keep these vital patient support programs going.

“The difference that [donors] make is life-saving. The money that we got from the Patient Financial Assistance Program meant that we could eat. It meant that Deidra could travel to visit me in the hospital. It made all of the difference. So, I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their donations. Once we are back on our feet, we definitely want to be contributors as well.”

“I had the opportunity to work with the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s Patient Navigator Program, which made sure I was receiving support. My patient navigator connected me to a social worker if I needed someone to talk to. She even supported my family in the new transition of me being back home.”

“We chose the Alberta Cancer Foundation in the hopes of helping local community members who may need to use the new Cancer Centre’s Adolescent and Young Adult Programs, or the Patient Financial Assistance Program… To me, it is wonderful to pay forward all the help and assistance I have received on my cancer journey.”

“I think it’s awesome that Calgary now has an AYA Patient Navigator who can help other AYA patients find amazing resources and support a lot sooner than I did.”
