Mobile Breast Screening Enhancement Project
Screen Test is a mobile breast cancer screening program that is bringing mammograms and information on breast health to Albertans in rural and remote communities. Easier access to this service means more Albertans are cared for and more breast cancer cases are discovered earlier, increasing the chances for survival among breast cancer patients.
Screen Test plays a key role in inclusive and equitable access to cancer detection and care in Alberta. The program deploys two large trailer units carrying digital mammography equipment in a modified clinical setting, and travels to more than 120 communities around the province on a yearly basis.
In 2021, Screen Test performed more than 540,000 mammograms and detected over 3,000 cases of breast cancer. With your support, the program can add state-of-the-art 3D mammography equipment and continue to provide this life-saving service to all Albertans.

“No matter where you live in the province, you have the same access to screening services with Screen Test. There are still pockets of the population that are under-screened and don’t access screening services, so we work with community partners to identify these groups and determine strategies that are proven to be successful to raise awareness of, and increase participation in, breast cancer screening.”
